LESSON PLANS & LIFE LESSONS – Jan. ’16

LESSON PLANS & LIFE LESSONS… January 2016 – CCLC Newsletter

WE ARE BLESSED…

We are blessed in 2016. We are blessed to live in a community that supports the teaching of Scripture within the context of a public education. We are blessed. We are blessed to have access to the truth of God’s Word. We are blessed. We are blessed to worship freely in the church of our choice. We are blessed in 2016. May the blessings of God continue to flood our lives as we seek to be His people, His church, His ambassadors of the Good News: God Loves You!

(GUEST ARTICLE) FROM THE CCLC BOARD OF DIRECTORS…

For the past 11 years, White County High School and NGA students have been able to learn about the Bible and about ethical decision making from a Christian perspective through the Catalyst Christian Learning Center (CCLC). The Center, which takes advantage of a law that allows students to be taught off campus during the school day, has taught and ministered to more than 1000 students since 2004. Students can enroll in courses entitled Character and Core Values, Boundaries in Relationships, Dating and Marriage, and The Old Testament and Its Influence. In addition, adults from our community provide one-on-one mentoring for students in grades 10-12 who wish to take advantage of this opportunity. Currently, CCLC has 63 students enrolled. CCLC is currently in need of volunteers with a CDL to transport students from the High School/Ninth Grade Academy to The Bridge Church in Cleveland where classes are held. Also, because CCLC receives no government funds, we have an urgent and critical need for financial donations from churches and individuals who are willing to partner with us in sustaining this vital ministry. To donate, send checks to CCLC PO Box 1627 Cleveland, GA 30528. Sincerely: David Wilkins, Jim Gant, Mike Cash, Latrelle Edwards, Angie Gant, Sherri Manley, Dawn McQueen, Fiona Weaver, & Jerry Yandell (this message was originally posted in The White County News in October of 2015)

LOOKING AHEAD…

The new semester is going to be a special one. Our classes will continue to meet at the current location: The Bridge Church; however, at some point in the semester The Bridge Church will relocate. When the church moves The Catalyst Christian Learning Center will move with them. Please pray for us as we make the transition to a new location with The Bridge Church. It is an exciting time for all of us. We are blessed to work with such a wonderful partner church.

A HAPPY, HEARTY, HEARTFELT NEW YEAR IN 2016…

Happy – That our students are developing a deeper hunger for God’s Ways & God’s Word. I’m happy that I have the chance to teach from the Scriptures during my class time with CCLC students.

Hearty – A hearty soup is full of the good stuff. I pray that our classes are characterized this way. I pray they are full of the good stuff. Strong peer to peer relationships as well as meaningful coaching relationships are one of our most important aims at the CCLC.

Heartfelt – People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care (Theodore Roosevelt). Kids know when you care. They definitely have an acute sense of when you don’t care. I pray that God would reveal the truth of how much all of us at the CCLC care about them. Let it be a heartfelt message of God’s grace and mercy that is expressed in all of our classes.

THANK YOU FOR HELPING US KICK OFF A NEW YEAR…

The new newsletter: “LESSON PLANS & LIFE LESSONS” is an experiment in communication. I plan to crank out a newsletter every month via email and / or facebook. With increased communication the CCLC may have increased support in the community. This is our hope and our prayer. Blessing to you and yours! Thank you for reading. If you know someone that would enjoy receiving an email from us each month, please encourage them to send us their email address and their request for an email newsletter subscription… send request to our email: catalystclc1@gmail.com
